DES MOINES – Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro today joined the members of the Executive Council to convene as the State Canvassing Board to certify the election results from two races (Senate District 10 and House District 1).

In Senate District 10, Democrat Jeff Danielson finished 22 votes ahead of Republican Walt Rogers. In House District 1, Democrat Wesley Whitead finished 55 votes ahead of Republican Jeremy Taylor.

There are two races (House District 8 and 37) that have not been finalized at the county level. The recounts have been completed but the county canvassing boards had not reconvened to certify the post-recount results before the State Canvassing Board met at 10:30 this morning.

Those final two races will be certified next week (Mon. Dec., 8 ) in another meeting of the State Canvassing Board.
